10 years later

It is a rainy Sunday morning in Paris.  I'm glad it's raining, because we really needed an excuse to catch up on sleep a bit after a busy week here.

It's also one of those days where we all know exactly where we were precisely 10 years ago.  On a positive note, I just learned that Meetup was formed as a result of the new neighborliness that emerged in New York after the attack.  On this trip we're benefiting greatingly from social media and other creative ideas like Meetup, Facebook and Couch Surfing which keep us in touch and put us in touch.

The world is a small place, for better or worse.

  1. A tasteless bit of levity: I KNOW where I was. I was the courthouse, prepared for an easy day of hearings, no trials. I was talking to a semi-familiar looking guy in the hallway. He told me all about the 9/11 attacks.

While I was absorbing the shock, he blandly asked how I proposed to defend him in his assault trial at 9AM.

Now I'm having a panic attack. I had to run full speed back to the office to get his file. All the other lawyers were walking the other way and laughing at me.

Fortunately for my client, he was acquitted due to my zealous "preparation"
