As we are not in the golden 18-25 year old discounted range, we worked hard to do justice to our Paris Museum Pass today by going to la musée d’Orsay, la musée de l’armée, Napoleon’s tomb, la musée des plans relief and a bit of le centre Pompidou. Whew.
Here’s Jack at the Pompidou.
Here he is at the museum of scale models (plan relief). If you’re looking to get him an exceedingly expensive gift, he wants you to know that a laser cutter would make him into a museum quality maker-of-almost-anything.
Fun coincidence – of all the hundreds of well marked Parisian pharmacies, we’ve seen, we happened to go to this one. Once inside we realized that all price tags and the name tag of the clerk all said BADER. We talked to her about the pronunciation and how neither party really knows the origin of the name.
Jack – here’s to a wonderful year!
Jack, see post below for birthday greetings. For opening night Packer football (Thursday) go to http://www.comptoirdessports.com/

Don't leave us hanging here: how is the name Bader pronounced in French?
ReplyDeleteFamily legend says the French-speaking Belgian Baduex BAY DUE family changed thier name to Bader (German for one who bathes) when overrun by the Germans during the Franco-Prussian war. So the essence of Baderism is the willingness to hide one's true identity in the face of fear. Also, to be a Bader is to bathe frequently.
ReplyDeleteThis Bader pronounced it "BAH der" including the "r" sound, which was what I was most curious about.
