Dougga Thugga

Last Friday our friends in Tunis drove us out to Dougga, an ancient Roman city built on top of a pre-roman settlement (Thugga).

Wow.

Now, They have a little different attitude in Tunisia towards ruins- instead of being preserved, they are slowly being rebuilt. It’s somebody’s job is to stack the ancient rocks back up again, and put the mosaics back together one tiny tile at a time.  But this was probably the coolest set of ruins we have seen- it was absolutely huge, with several buildings that would have been worth admission all on their own.  And it was in a beautiful setting.

  1. Hi Cari and Jack,
It's amazing to think of all the places you've been since Umbria. It sounds like you've had a mixture of tense and good situations, but all exciting...looking forward to reading about the rest of your travels as they unfold... Lucy xx
