After a few years of indecision about reckoning with scope of projects and priorities, we bought an inexpensive pergola for shade on the roof. With some help from D, we put it up on the fourth of July and enjoyed some shady lunches at the end of the summer.
Flash forward to October, when the wind reminded us that we needed to secure it better. First, we tied it down and then we attached concrete blocks to the feet and reinforced it with cables. It was our first time drilling in concrete and the first type of anchors we used were crap. After many trips to the store and some chilly work, it's done and we're pretty sure it is secure enough.
