You’ve probably seen the headlines that this was Seattle’s wettest March since record keeping began in the 1890’s. However, Jack and I both thought it was a pretty nice month. Having some good weather fall on weekends makes a big impression.
It’s really important to get out of Pioneer Square to fully realize that springtime has arrived. With that in mind, today we did a walk in Eastlake from my Seattle Stairways book. Walking and talking with Jack is one of my favorite activities and today was no exception. We did the route of the red line below, plus some additional wandering.

Here we are in Streissguth Gardens.
We saw lots of magnolia and cherry trees, some interesting and impressive houses and some great views to the east and west.

Can anyone identify the tree above, right with the dark green leaves and rose-like flowers? They are everywhere. (ANSWER: Camellia)
What about these two types of amazingly fragrant white flowers? If you click on the pictures you can see a larger version. I’m starting to think about what fragrant friends we can plant around our house someday. (ANSWERS: left: magnolia kobus right: Gardenia, perhaps but what kind? The pictures I’m finding don’t look right. )

We both feel like spring is a delightfully obvious time of year to have a baby. How nice. Lastly, we can’t resist puns and the like so here’s a picture of my bump. Jack says it’s like the cantilever on our future-house.
